The specimens of the Grand Gallery of Evolution come from the immense historical collections of the former Gallery of Zoology, opened in 1889.

Today's permanent exhibition dedicated to evolution extends over 6000 square-meters.

The extinction of animals and plants is caused by the destruction of their natural habitats and by human activity.
This room houses precious specimens of extinct species discovered by explorers.
There are also specimens of currently endangered species.

The Grand Gallery of Evolution, located in the "Jardin des Plantes", is accessible to people with reduced mobility.
